Ronald Ray Powell, 62, from Milton, Florida passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, peacefully at his home after a long battle with liver disease. Ronald was born on May 21, 1962, in Valparaiso, Florida to Otis and Theda Powell.
Ronald (also known as Ron or Ronnie) was raised in Crestview, where he was an excellent student and talented football player. He was a 1980 Graduate of Crestview High School and a United States Air Force Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his large family and many friends. Ronald was detail-oriented and artistic in nature, he loved composing poetry, painting with acrylics, and gardening.
His dad instilled a love for motorcycles and automobiles. His mother bestowed a love for music, as Ronald enjoyed playing the bass guitar and singing at church. His beloved Granny Lila Everage fostered his lifelong desire to share laughter, joy, and God’s love with others. Ronald was a retired road inspector with the State of Florida Department of Transportation. He was a memorable individual, loved by many, and he will be greatly missed. If you knew him, you might understand when he was recently described by a dear cousin as, “a big pain in the butt that you just can’t help to love.”
Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Theda Powell.
Ronald is survived by his wife of twenty years, Susan Powell, his sister, Rhonda Walker, his nephew, Carl Ellis, his three nieces, Belinda Roy, Amanda Richards and Reanna Richardson, his uncle, Raymond Everage and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Reverend Lewis Wilson officiating. Burial to follow at Live Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Crestview, Florida. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Susan I am truly sorry for your loss and give you my most sincerest condolences. It is my belief that your husband Ronald is in a better place now with our lord and savior without pain or sickness. When my mother went home i was told that God picks his flowers too which i hope you will find comfort in as i did.
