Grace Lee Ferdon

December 26, 1942~May 12, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Grace Ferdon, a true legend and beloved member of the Crestview community, who left us on May 12, 2025.
Grace was nothing short of a local icon. In 1987, she opened her own tanning business, which soon expanded to include hair and nail services. For the next 38 years, her salon became one of the largest and most celebrated in Crestview—a testament to her vision, determination, and dedication. Grace’s warmth and generosity turned her business into a welcoming gathering place where customers became friends and family.
Her love for Crestview went far beyond her business. Grace was instrumental in the founding of the downtown Main Street/CRA program and a driving force behind the area’s revitalization. Alongside her beloved Willie, she served on the Old Spanish Trail Festival committee for over 20 years, bringing joy to the community each year. She also played an active role in organizing the Crestview Music Festival.
Perhaps Grace’s most enduring legacy is the countless lives she touched through the pageants she produced and directed as fundraisers for local clubs and organizations. Known as “Granny Grace” by generations of pageant kids, she devoted herself to encouraging and mentoring others, always going above and beyond for her community.
Grace is survived by her daughter Angela Ferdon and her beloved “son-n-love” Terry Selvage; her bonus daughter Cindy “Lou” Oloughlin and husband Sean; special friend Ed Neal; sisters Maxine Humphreys and Rita Burke; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willie, son Wally, sisters Jenny Franklin and Joann Maynard, and brothers Gene and Roy Seibers.
A visitation and celebration of Grace’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Brackney Funeral Service Chapel. At Grace’s request, everyone attending is invited to wear bright colors in celebration of her vibrant spirit. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Grace’s warmth, kindness, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. She will be deeply missed.

I am soooo sorry to hear of Grace’s passing. She was a sweet, beautiful lady. A fond memory I have of her is from the late 80’s, but it seems like only yesterday. We were at a (either a school play or pageant), she was sitting by the aisle, I sat next to her & my mom sat on the other side of me; Grace & I were clowning around (quietly), some people stood in the way, obstructing our view, so Grace pretended to roll a bowling ball down the aisle, cracking us all up. My mom said, “If you & Grace don’t behave, I’m going to separate ya’ll.” LOL. Prayers & condolences to her family. It was an honor to know you Grace.

I am so sad to hear of Ms Grace’s passing. She was so much a second mother to me. I remember when my own mother passed and before she passed, Ms Grace was there to make me and my mom feel better about the entire situation. Her words and feelings made me strong enough to get through what I had to do. I wish there was something I could say to ease your burden. Just know I’m here if you need me. I love you.
