September 30, 1946~June 23, 2025

Margarett (Peggy) Ann Dyer age 78, of Crestview, Florida passed away at her home on Monday, June 23, 2025. After an extended illness, Peggy left the pain and confusion of this world and went to be with Jesus. Her husband, Reese Dyer of 60 years and family were by her side.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Mal and Idell Pippins, her brothers Phil, Jimmy and Larry Pippins, her sister, Debby Melvin and Step Sister, Linda Vincek.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Raymond (Reese) Dyer, her daughter, Laurie (Scott) Jordan, her daughter, Becky (Rolan) Hernandez all of Crestview, Florida. Peggy delighted in her grandchildren, Meagan (Robert) Ceska of Crawfordville, Florida, Captain Wesley Lewis, USAF, Nate Hernandez of Crestview, Florida, Katie King of Crestview, Florida, and great granddaughters,  Annabelle and Allison Ceska of Crawfordville, Florida, her sister Patty (Reggie) Gilmore, her brother, Joe (Cheri) Pippins, her sister, Mary (Steve) Fuller, her step brother, Mike (Carol) Little and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy was born on September 30, 1946 in Crestview, Florida. After traveling with her father who was in the US Navy they returned home to Crestview. She started working at age 14 at the Fox Theater, was a junior hostess at the USO and was an operator at Southeastern Telephone Company.

Before graduating from Crestview High School, in the spring of 1965, Peggy met her soul mate on a blind date. After three dates, many love letters, and one long Air Force deployment they were married on July 17, 1965.

After Reese’s military service was over they relocated to his home state of Ohio. In Ohio, their daughter Laurie was born in 1967. Peggy later worked at Bell Telephone Company and Rubbermaid Corporation in Wooster, Ohio. In 1975, they returned to Crestview, and built their current home where their daughter Becky was born in 1980. Peggy worked at Central Telephone Company, The Flower Basket, and was a substitute teacher at Bob Sikes Elementary School.

In 1989 Peggy began her career at the Okaloosa County Sheriff Office. She began as a dispatcher and became the Shift Supervisor, then later the communication supervisor over Okaloosa County. She retired as an analyst for the multi-agency task force.

As a young girl she gave her life to Jesus Christ. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church. While at Holy Trinity church she worked with all age groups from Sunday School all the way up. She was the past president of Women’s Aglow Fellowship for the surrounding area. She later attended Joy Fellowship which was previously Holy Trinity Church. There she served in Awana and the nursery and toddler room.

Peggy was a natural care giver and story teller, and loved to make people laugh. She gave the best hugs and was “Moma Peg” to many people. Her hobbies included reading, fishing, crafting and bingo/lunch with her girlfriends, but her greatest hobby of all was her family.

Even though she had been on many vacations, there is no where she would rather be than on the back porch of her home watching the birds, squirrels, and deer. It was her refuge and place she found peace. Thought her health kept her from enjoying the things she once loved, she found comfort in the familiarity of long drives around Baker where she grew up. Her soul mate never failed, in three years, to her  a chocolate milkshake and take her on her ride.

Though she will be missed every single day, the peace of knowing she is with our Lord, and the knowledge that we will be together again is a comfort to our hearts.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Joy Fellowship Church located at 5978 Old Bethel Road in Crestview, Florida 32536. This will be followed by refreshments of coffee, tea, and Peggy’s favorite cookies. We will enjoy fellowship until 6:00 p.m. Please feel free to share a favorite story or memory of Peggy. She would love if this was a casual event full of reminiscing and laughter.
