Louis V. Shaffer, Jr. greeted his Savior face-to-face on November 28 after a prolonged illness with dementia and cancer. Born on April 15, he was 65 at his passing. Louie lived all of his life in Crestview, Florida. He was born into a military family stationed in Paris, France. (You are just as shocked as we were!) Louie was the delight of his mother, Helen Shaffer; yes, the Mrs. Shaffer who taught you English at Crestview High.
Louie is survived by his beloved wife, Debby. They celebrated 43, mostly joyous years, in September of this year. There is simply not enough space here to describe the love he shared for his wife and the deep devotion they have for each other.
Louie is also survived by his three children, their spouses, and 8 grandchildren. Dr. and Reverend Chris Shaffer and Vanessa, Thaddeus and Adeline of New Orleans, LA.
Reverend Jeff Shaffer and Megan, Jaclynn and Helen of Forsyth, MO. Jennifer Smith and Joe, Alexis, Konner, Mia, and JJ of Crestview, FL.
The family would like to thank the excellent caregivers who watched over Louie from Carington Manor and Emerald Coast Hospice.
While Louie loved his family deeply, he loves Jesus more than these and would want you to know of the hope of the resurrection in Jesus.
A visitation with the family will be held Friday, December 2 at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Crestview, FL; followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
Brackney Funeral Home is coordinating arrangements.

So sorry to hear about Louie. We grew up together just a few blocks from each other, and went through school together (K-12) in the same class. We also played little league baseball and football together, often on the same teams. Louie was an exceptional athlete and I have some great memories of those days. Most importantly, I know it is a real comfort to family and friends to know that he had trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation, and we will see him again someday in eternity, and in the presence of the Lord Himself. Praying for the Shaffer family during this time of grieving and loss. 🙏

My dear friend Louie. We could talk hunting and fishing for hours and hours. With this old world in the shape that it’s in now, it want be long before Jesus comes to get us all, and we will all be together again. My prayer is that GOD will give a total peace to the Shaffer family.

I lived across the street from Louie. Like many of the kids in the neighborhood, we played sports. And that is how I remember him.
Sorry to hear of his passing.

I am just now seeing this. You will be greatly missed. My children fondly remember “Mr Louie” from Bob Sikes Daycare. He was the sweeties nicest man and always made their day.
