Gary Hamilton, age 71, of Crestview, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, at his home. Gary was born on May 13, 1952 in Niceville, Florida to Ottis K and Ruby Lee Hamilton. Gary was raised in Niceville. After graduation, he left to work for Vitro in Guantanamo Bay Cuba where he met his wife Sandi Prejean of 51 years. Gary came back to home in Niceville and worked for Okaloosa Gas for 35 years. After he retired, he started his own business, Hamilton’s Heating and Cooling.
He was loved by everyone and lived life to the fullest. Nothing was better than cooking a bunch of Fried Mullet and hush puppies. We just know he will be cooking up a storm in heaven.
Gary leaves behind his wife of 51 years Sandi Hamilton and his two girls, Michelle Hamilton and Kara Hamilton. He has 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00PM, Thursday, December 14 from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Mr Glenn Howze speaking.

From the Smith family. You were a friend to the end. You brought the light when times were dark. You also brought the life out of every situation. Your laugh and your questioning to Jawbone about “is this right, or what you think” will be forever missed. It will never be the same during hunting season. Hopefully you and Leonard are looking over us all and guiding us in the right direction.

Dear Sandi, Michelle, Kara and Family.
My heart weeps for you!
I am so sorry for your loss.
For 51 years I have known you and Gary and have so many wonderful memories of both of you and am thankful that God crossed our paths so long ago.
It’s so hard to fathom that Gary is with us in spirit only now. Your lovely husband, father, granddad, has entered the Lord’s presence and is at peace. He has seen the face of Jesus. Rejoice!
Gary “hambone” was a kind soul with a wonderful sense of humor and a giving nature. Everyone who knew him loved him. I know I sure did as well as Bill who thought of him as a brother from another mother.
I loved his southern drawl and hearing him call you and the women in his life, including me “darlin”.
I sure am gonna miss him.
Sandi, Our Lord has you and your family in the palm of his hand and knows of your immense heartbreak. Lean on Him, trust in Him with your whole heart. The Lord will help you.
May God grant you his peace and mercy as you go forward.
You are in our thoughts and prayers and we are here for you.
All our love. ❤

We were fortunate to spend a month with Gary and Sandi in the mountains two months ago. Loved hearing his big loud “Good Morning!” in his southern drawl at 6:30 before anyone else was awake.😂He got to see the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons and two of Utah’s most beautiful national parks. But his happiest moment was watching the elk walk through our campsite! He never smiled so big. We will miss him so much.

I am still in shock a week later and I awoke this morning thinking of Gary and his warm smile and infectious laugh and sense of humor. I shall miss the many memories we shared over the past 30+ years! Gary was always willing to help anyone at anytime…no matter what! Such a dear friend! I hate that I will miss his service today but I will be there in spirit and shall cherish our memories together. Sending lots of love to Sandi and family!
