Richard Dean Earls, born in 1970, was known by many titles: son, brother, husband, father, and affectionately as “Pappi.” But most importantly, he was a true friend. Anyone lucky enough to know him, or as locals called him, Rick, found a loyal companion who would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar without expecting anything in return. Rick was the heart and soul of any gathering. He spoke with passion, even if his words didn’t always fit with what society expected. In his world, he was always right, sticking firmly to his own truth.Rick’s memory was remarkable, and he loved sharing his vivid recollections, adding his unique perspective to every story. He was a man of strong faith, deeply connected to Jesus Christ, and unafraid to speak about his beliefs, even in public. His sudden passing at 53 is hard to understand unless you believe in a higher power guiding our lives. Despite life’s uncertainties, I find comfort in the belief that everything happens for a reason, especially for those who stay true to their faith and purpose.Richard is survived by his mother and father Rose Earls and Harold Earls Jr. His wife, Laura Earls. Seven children Andrew Earls, Amos Earls, Michelle Earls, Racheal Earls, Katherine Earls, Aubrey Earls, and Virginia Earls. As well as five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Bella, Landry, and Clementine.Today, we mourn the loss of an exceptional man whose absence will be deeply felt. But as we grieve, heaven rejoices in welcoming a beloved saint. Goodbye, dear brother. Your legacy lives on, and you will always be remembered. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 at Crossway Church in Crestview on Saturday March 16, 2024. The doors will be open to anyone who would like to come. 298 Wilson St N, Crestview, FL, 32536Some of his favorite verses were:I Cor. 14:40Eph. 5:16Nehemiah 4:6Luke 1:37Written by Harold L Earls III

Dear Harold, Rose, Laura and family. I am so sorry for the loss of Richard. So many of us (your Harmony family) mourn with you today. Please know you are in my prayers. I would love to be at the service but because of circumstances beyond my control I can’t. Love y’all and God Bless you all!!

Unbelievable loss of such a great person! We always lived apart, him growing up in Florida and me in Texas, but I have wonderful memories of all of us cousins playing at Oma and Opa’s home in San Antonio. He is with them now laughing at all those memories! Laura and family, Aunt Rose, Uncle Harold, and Harold III, we are praying for you and know you will find strength in the Lord. I know Richard will be missed.
Lots of Love,
Cousin Roger and Ann Carter

When I was growing up Rick and my dad split a shop together, my dad doing woodwork and Rick doing stained glass. I worked with him for quite a while and learned a lot about the craft as well as him as a person. I can’t name anyone who enjoyed precarious situations and got such enjoyment from the unexpected as much as Rick. A terrible loss, but I take solace in the fact that his best traits will live on through his children. It was a pleasure knowing him.

It is with the deepest sadness, but with the greatest appreciation and joy that I write of Rick today. Our boys, Andrew and Harrison, became the best of friends over 15 years ago, and with that friendship came a lifetime of memories, mentorship and laughter with Rick. I’m so grateful for the love he showed my son, that extended to our family. My most recent memory is of Rick running around the OWA water park on Virginia’s fifth grade trip. I was there as a teacher. He was “Rick,” and we had a great time just hanging out. His commentary on situations made every situation I ever was in with him fun! Rick will be greatly missed on this Earth. May you all find some peace in knowing that he is stirring things up on the streets of gold right now! 😊 Until we see him again…
