Charles Edward Gage Sr.

June 22, 1945~August 14, 2024

The late Charles Edward Gage was born to the late John Allen Gage and the late Annie Lue Gage on June 22, 1945.  Charles departed this life on August 14, 2024 at Vitas Hospice Homecare in Destin, Florida.  He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Ray Gage.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Gage, and son), Charles Edward Gage, Jr. (Chuck.  He is also survived by four sisters: Rosa Wright, Jerolene Henry (Doug), Vivian Gage-Bailey (Earl), and Wanda Gage (Rick), three sisters-in-law: Teresa Spencer, Patricia Jefferson, Phyllis Gage, and one brother-in-law, George Doucett (Fay).

At his early age he attended Carver Hill School and graduated in 1963.  He received an Associate of Arts degree at the former Washington Junior College in Pensacola, Florida in 1965.  He served in the Marine Corp and was a combat marine in the 1st battalion, 27th Marine during the Viet Nam war.

He worked at First Bank of Crestview for many years and for the First Presbyterian Church of Crestview for over 50 years.  He managed the church service for the homeless including the soup kitchen every Friday until his illness.

When a cure was not to be,

So He wrapped His arms around you,

And whispered, “Come unto me.”

You didn’t deserve what you went through,

And so He gave you rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful,

He only takes the best.

So when I saw you sleeping,

So peaceful and free from pain,

I could not wish you to come

To suffer that all again.
