Rebecca Ann McLeod

July 05, 1954~August 23, 2024
Rebecca Ann McLeod, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on Aug 23,
2024 due to a long valiant fight with cancer and COPD.  She now joins
her parents, MSgt Gervice Edward McLeod and Nellie Ruth Harrison McLeod
and the Lord.  Her faith in God was unwavering.
She is survived by her sisters Bobbie Denise McLeod and Sonya Kay
Dozier, several nieces and nephews, and Ron Krecic, her companion of 40
years.
Rebecca was born July 5th, 1954 at MacDill AFB, in Tampa, Florida.  She was
affectionately known as Bec to her father, Becky to Ron, and Reba to her
many friends.
After graduation from Niceville HS she started working for the Air
Force.  She was a Budget Analyst at Eglin AFB, Florida, and Peterson and
Schriever AF Bases in Colorado, with 36 years of outstanding service and
several commendations, before retiring because of health reasons.  Her
tenacious spirit kept her fighting a courageous battle, which was echoed
in her love for the Crimson Tide.
Reba was active in the community serving as the treasurer of the
Republican Club and as assistant for the North Okaloosa Fire District.
She was an avid reader, having a book wherever she went.  She spent many
hours delving into her family’s ancestry exploring her Scottish and
Cherokee roots.  She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and visiting friends in
the local area.  Politics was also a passion and she would discuss it
anytime.  And Rebecca was the most patriotic person we knew.  She was
beautiful, loving, and kind to all and made friends easily.
Rebecca converted to Catholicism in Colorado. We would like to thank
everyone in the Oncology Center at Ascension Sacred Heart Hosp in Destin
and Pensacola for the excellent care and treatment over many years.
A memorial will take place at Brackney Funeral Home on Sat, Sep 14, with
visitation at 1pm and a service at 2 pm.  She will be cremated and
buried in the family plot next to her mother and father in Florala, Al,
at a date to be determined.

My cousin Becky was a lot of fun to be around ! I will miss her , I got to see her once in a while when they lived at Eglin Air Force and I wish I could have seen her more often as we grew up! May the Good Lord be with the rest of her family during this difficult time! God Bless her and her family at this time! Bill and Barri Harrison and family!

i’ve had the privilege to know Becky over thirty (30) years. She was a good true friend. I consider her my sister for I loved her to the moon and back. I am still having a hard time accepting she has travel her final journey . We’ve shared so many wonderful times together that I will cherish forever. Although I’m thankful she is no longer suffering . I’m also selfish that I want her here where we can continue to grow old together and continue our many wonderful memories . Becky you’ll always be in my heart forever. Until we meet again I Love You and I miss you more than words can express. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Forever your friend. Jhonnie

Becky was a dear friend during the many years we lived in Colorado. We had many fun times together sharing meals, fun times, skiing and just enjoying each other’s friendship. She was passionate in her beliefs and loyal to those she loved. May she be at Peace. My deepest condolences to her special partner Ron and her family.

My longtime friend, since we first met at Schriever AFB 1996 we made eye-to-eye contact and from that mutual compassionate friendship lasted till this day; I will keep you in my daily prayers.
Yes, we both retired 2012 from Eglin AFB and kept our meetups as often as we could; those wonderful memories will be instilled in my heart forever.

I got to know Becky through my cousin Ron. She came to several family reunions over the years, & I always looked forward to seeing her & sharing with her all the news from the past year. Our family will continue to miss seeing her at our reunions, but we know she is in a better place. Sweet journey, Becky!
