Our beloved Grandmother Eloise Merritt age 100 went to be with our Lord on September 13th, 2020. She was born August 19, 1920 in Baker, FL to Jim and Eva Davis. Eloise married JW Merritt and raised their family in Crestview. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Eloise was a talented hairdresser and owned and operated Eloise’s Beauty Shop for over 30 years. She valued her customers and treated them as family. She also had a love for cooking and sharing her meals with family and friends. She had a huge heart and wouldn’t hesitate to help others in need. She and JW enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and camping, spending time at the bay in the summer with family was one of her favorite pastimes. Her sense of humor made times spent together, fun and memorable. She will be deeply missed for her kindness, huge heart, and compassion for others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister, her husband JW Merritt and their children, Rita Turner, Jennifer Leadmon, Jimmy Merritt, and stepson, Randall Merritt, granddaughter, Karla Blue, grandson Rodney Ward and great-great grandson baby Sawyer Luke Strickland.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Angela Heichman, Kim Ward Miller (Joseph), Kaylyn Mack (Paul), Jason turner, Mike Leadmon, Misti Cook (John), Lisa Hernandez, Dusty Dempsey, Randy Merritt, Gena Miller (Bob), and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Brackney Funeral Service, in Crestview, Thursday, September 17th, beginning at 10am with Pastor Ronnie Bearden officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:00am at the funeral home.

It’s been a long time since I’d seen grandma, and it pains me that I won’t be there for her funeral due to living in South Carolina now. I do know that she was a special lady to many people. I know that whatever pains she had, they’re gone now.
