RUTH ELISABETH MARTINEZ
FEBRUARY 28, 1931 – DECEMBER 10, 2020

Beloved Ruth Elisabeth Martinez, 89, of Crestview, FL has unexpectedly passed away on December 10, 2020. God now has another amazing Angel in Heaven to watch over us all. She was born February 28, 1931 to the late Konrad & Gertrude Simon in Ratibor, the State of Upper Silesia which is currently part of Poland. She married Guadalupe “Wally” Martinez, Jr on February 20, 1963 in Sequin, TX and lived most of their married life in San Antonio, TX until Wally’s death in 2011 where she then moved to Crestview, FL to be closer to family.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor, giving selflessly to all those who were blessed to know her. She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked in pediatrics most of her adult life. She retired after 30 plus years when her first granddaughter, Ashley was born. She devoted the rest of her life to her children, granddaughters and her little Maltese, “Princess”. She had a way with babies, and her granddaughters & doggie were her entire world. She loved to knit and do crossword puzzles to keep her mind active, and spent most of the days taking care of Princess.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law Scott & Melanie Guthrie, her son, Rudolf Martinez, her brother, Helmut Simon, her sister, Jenny Robinson, her granddaughters, Ashley Guthrie, Breanna Guthrie, Caitlyn Guthrie, many grand & great grandnieces and nephews in Germany & US. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Konrad Simon, her sisters Ursula Grimm & Brigitte Campbell.
