Jerry Wayne Mathis Sr. 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 in Pensacola, Florida.

Jerry was born on August 13, 1951 in Adel, Georgia to Perry and Lucile Mathis. He was a proud veteran of The United States Navy and a member of Shockley Springs Baptist Church. Jerry retired as a driver for the Okaloosa County Transit Department and also worked at the Crestview Area Shelter for the homeless until he passed. He loved to hunt, fish and talk to anyone who will listen.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Perry Alton Mathis and Lucile Janie Tatum Mathis, his two brothers and one sister.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Anita Wadsworth Mathis, his sons, Fred Mathis (Jessica) and Shaun Mathis (Cat), his daughters, Barbie Hattaway (Andres Fermin), Daphne Youngblood (Jesse), his four brothers, his three sisters, his eleven grandchildren, his four great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 12:30 pm at Shockley Springs Baptist Church in Baker, Florida with a potluck dinner after.

Yeah I’m so sorry I just just now found out about this and wow. I’m heading to Destin seafood here in Crestview when they first yeah opened up way back in the day and he did that’s all he could talk about was fish and fish fish and fishing and hunting and all that yeah he was a good guy he will be he will be missed rest in peace Jerry
