Jerry Allen Williams, age 80, of Crestview, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at North Okaloosa Medical Center.
Born on November 23, 1944, in Cowen, West Virginia, Jerry was the son of Donald and Mary Williams. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force in August of 1962, proudly serving as a Military Police officer until his retirement in 1987.
Throughout his distinguished 25-year military career, Jerry received numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with six oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon. His dedication to duty and integrity were hallmarks of his service.
Following his retirement, Jerry continued his commitment to the military community through his work in the Janitorial Department at Eglin Air Force Base, where his strong work ethic and kind demeanor were appreciated by all who knew him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Williams; his in laws, Robert and Jewett Sapp; his brother, Clarence Williams; his sisters, Ida and Judy: his sister-in-laws, Carrie Williams, Sach Williams and Mattie Sapp: his brother in law, Broward Sapp.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Cheryl Sapp Williams; his daughter, Sharonda Lynn Cox; his brother, Keith Williams; his sisters, Dora Boggs and Rosetta; and his cherished grandchildren, Jadzia Williams (Adam) and Brandon Cox and a host of extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service. Officiating will be Pastor Jason Stokes and Pastor Keith Williams, with a special tribute from his granddaughter, Jadzia Williams.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Jerry will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a lifetime of devoted service to his country and his family. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, love, and integrity that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
