Shelly Easter was born on August 7, 1947, in Waldo, Arkansas, to the late Mahew
and Amie Lee Dismuke. From an early age, Shelly demonstrated a love for learning,
compassion for others, and a deep faith that would guide her through life.
She graduated from Westside School and continued her education at Southern State
College, now known as Southern Arkansas University, where she earned her degree
in education. Teaching was far more than a profession for Shelly - it was her calling.
For 33 years, she faithfully served students throughout Columbia County, inspiring
young minds, nurturing confidence, and helping shape future generations. Her
impact as an educator extended far beyond the classroom and continues through
the many lives she touched.
Shelly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry Easter; her parents,
Mahew and Amie Lee Dismuke; her brothers, Larry and Lee Otis Dismuke; her
sister-in-law, Jennifer Dismuke; and many cherished relatives and friends.
She leaves behind her life’s treasures who gifted her with the titles of devoted
mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mentor, and friend. With the
blessing of a welcoming heart and a spirit that made people feel seen, valued, and
loved.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children;
Orvando “OJ” Freeman
Eric Freeman ( Jamie)
Thomas Oliver (Taiyewo)
Yolanda Wade (Andy)
Sherika Easter (Anthony)
Angelina Hartiseld
She was also the proud grandmother of Amari, Keenan (Alyssa),
Briani (Ryan), Eric Jr., Jaiden, Lailah, Malchai, and Jaquez.
Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Kayden, Rylan,
Raymond, Urias, and Georgia.

Barbara Atkins; nephews Mark (Michelle) and Nicholas (Tammy); nieces
Jackie (Brock), Kendall, Alia, Artia, Athalia, Shannon, Jada, Meka, Komeka
and Kedrion; and a host of extended family members who loved her dearly
She was also blessed with three special “bonus daughters” - Dr. Collee
Portis, Tenisha Johnson, and LaShandra Harris (Preston) - who held a
special place in her heart. Her devoted caretaker, Javier Rivera Torres,
provided companionship and care that brought comfort and support during
her later years.
Shelly treasured her many friends and prayer partners, including Diana
Webster (Wayne), Robert and Cheryl Laumer, Pat Jackson, Marie Martin,
Nita Cloud, Brenda and Kenneth Carroll, and countless others whose lives
were enriched by her friendship.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Later in life, she became a faithful member of e Church of Jesus Christ of
Lader-Day Saints, Ward 1, in Jacksonville, Florida. Her unwavering faith was
evident in every aspect of her life. Many looked forward to the daily
scriptures, inspirational quotes, and encouraging messages she faithfully
shared. Her words uplifted spirits, strengthened faith, and reminded others
of God’s love.
Shelly found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, meaningful
conversations with family and friends, and spending time encouraging those
around her. She enjoyed watching Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Matlock,
westerns, and British mystery programs. She also had a well-known fondness
for Dr. Pepper, Spam, and ice cream - favorites that brought a smile to her
face and to those who knew her well.
Above all else, Shelly loved people. Whether serving as an educator, foster
parent, spiritual encourager, mentor, or friend, she gave generously of
herself. Her kindness, wisdom, faith, and unconditional love created a lasting
impact that will continue for generations. Though her earthly journey has
ended, her legacy of love, service, and faith remains alive in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
