Angelia Kay Busbee Stokes
January 30, 1961 – December 28, 2023
Angelia Kay Busbee Stokes (62), better known to most as Angie, passed away late on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at her home in Laurel Hill with her husband, Wayne Stokes by her side. Angie was born in Florala, Alabama on January 30, 1961. She was the first born of four children and was the only daughter of Ray and Roselyn Busbee. Angie was the sister of Ricky Busbee, Rusty Busbee, and Reed Busbee. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Busbee.
Angie was a 1979 graduate from Crestview High School, where she played the clarinet in the marching band. Not long after high school, she married Kenny Carroll and had two sons: Brian Carroll and KevinCarroll. During this time and due to military duty stations, the family moved away and lived in Louisiana, Germany, and then Georgia prior to returning to the local area. Angie and Kenny parted ways and sometime later she had another son, Troy Bess, with her then husband, Robert Bess. Around this time, she also joined the United States Post Office as a Rural Mail Carrier. In 2011, she married Wayne Stokes on the banks of a river, known to locals as Sunny Bunny Beach, where she enjoyed so much of her free time. Angie retired from the US Post Office and continued to live the simple life with Wayne in Laurel Hill, Florida. Together, they enjoyed being in nature and oftentimes you could find them gathered with friends and family around a bonfire with Wayne playing the guitar.
Angie always loved being on the go in her early years but found great peace in nature as she aged. Throughout her life, her many loves were dolphins, the beach, sitting on the banks of a river and being around those she loved and cherished. She is survived by her husband, Wayne Stokes, her sons: Brian (Samantha) Carroll, Kevin (Heather) Carroll, Troy Bess (Magen Jackson) and her daughters Elizabeth (Michael) Parrish and Jackie (Kevin) Borst, her mother, Roselyn Busbee and brothers: RickyBusbee, Rusty (Minnie) Busbee, and Reed(Stephanie) Busbee; she was the greatest Nana to her grandchildren: Austin (Lexi) Carroll, AJ Carroll, Alexis Carroll, Hunter Carroll, Sadie Carroll, Winston Carroll, and Cody Clary, in addition to a great-grandson, Liam Carroll, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, January 3, from the First Baptist Church of Laurel Hill with Pastor Mike McVay officiating. Burial will follow in the Almarante Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

To the boys and their families –
As I reflect on all the memories with your Mom, my dear friend Angie, they bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. Life goes by way too fast. As you grieve and reflect back on life, there will be good days and there will be bad days but always be there for each other, consoling, supporting and loving one another. Do not take anything for granted. Your Mom was a good woman and she loved you all so very much. We didn’t stay in touch like we should have, but I always knew she was only a phone call away and I was for her too. You all have always and will always hold a special place in my heart along with your Mom. She will be missed… We send our condolences, prayers and love to you all. We are only a phone call away. Love, Michael and Cheryl Plough. ❤️
