Clayton Howard Wilson, affectionately known as Clay, passed away on March 21, 2025, in Crestview, Florida, at the age of 79. Born on July 19, 1945, in Galliver, Florida, Clay lived a life marked by generosity, humor, and unwavering dedication to those around him.

A lifelong Floridian, Clay was baptized as a young boy and remained a devoted member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Holt, Florida. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life and shaped the way he treated others—with kindness, compassion, and an open heart.

Clay was known far and wide as a hard-working man and owner of Wilson Painting,who could always be found in his signature painter whites—either heading to work or scouting out new jobs. He took pride in his work ethic and was admired for his reliability and determination. But beyond his labor, it was his spirit that left the deepest impression. Clay had a natural gift for lifting spirits with his quick wit and well-timed jokes. Whether easing tension or simply bringing joy to a room, he used humor as a bridge to connect with others.

To his family and friends, Clay was more than dependable, he was their cornerstone. He was the go-to person for everyone in his circle, always ready to lend a hand or offer support without hesitation. Known for his boundless generosity, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need—a sentiment not just spoken but lived daily.

Clay’s legacy lives on through those who loved him dearly. He is survived by his beloved wife Judy; sister Ruth; sons Darryl; Chuck and wife Dana; Clay Jr. and wife Kerri; daughters Diane; Kristie and husband Kyle. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Amanda, Renee, Sara, Kathy, Nicole, Jessica, Rebecca, Chandlelyn, Sierra, Chase, Chelsea, Ashlyn, Taylor, Sabreena, Desiree, Jacob, Jason, David, Ayden along with 18 Great Grand Kids and multiple nieces and nephews.

He now joins in rest his parents Howard and Lilla; brothers Eddie, Larry, Jimmy, Randy; sisters Melba and Sharon; daughter-in-law Sharon; and granddaughter Chrissy.

A memorial service honoring Clay’s life will be held on Friday, April 11th at Brackney Funeral Services located at 480 E James Lee Blvd., Crestview, Florida 32539. Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

In leu of flowers please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or plant a tree in his honor.

Clay Wilson leaves behind a legacy of love rooted in selflessness and laughter. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Nothing more could be said about Clay than written in his obituary concerning a man who lived his life by example in his daily walk with life. His memories will b a comfort to all who had the privilege to know him. Pray the Holy Ghost Comforter will be ever present to give peace and acceptance.

I always remember him always laughing and cutting up. Momma loved him to no end. He always reminded me of uncle Buddy. Years ago I’ d run in to him on a job. Hard working man. All of uncle Buddy and aunt lillas children were always in good spirit. Rest in peace cuz. You earned it.

Clay was always the bright spot of my day. One of the hardest working men I knew. Always come in with a smile on his face and Jokes to go with it. Prayers for his family.
