Delores Marie Brockschmidt 83, was born in Holt, Florida on December 6, 1940, to James and Velma Andrews. She was predeceased by her one younger sibling, Marion, with whom she grew up until she married at age 15.
It was a whirlwind romance to Edward Brockschmidt, Jr., an Air Force airman and a year later, in 1957, she had her first child, a son, Edward III (“Duke”). They soon moved to California and thereafter she gave birth to her daughter, Jamye, in 1966. Between them, Delores was blessed with seven grandkids – Duke and his wife Debbie’s children Ashley, Samantha and Edward IV, and Jamye and her husband Kris’ children Natacia, Cassandra, Amanda and Dillon. She was later further blessed with four great grandchildren – Aria and Alexander (born to Jamye’s daughter Natacia) and Sophia and Edward V (“Henry”) (born to Duke’s son Edward IV).
Delores’ husband sadly passed away in 1993 and shortly thereafter she returned to Holt. She ultimately met Thomas Garrett, whom she had known in high school many years before, and he became the second love of her life. She blissfully lived out the rest of her days (two decades) with him, deeply in love with him and adored and cherished by him. Delores, a woman of deep Christian faith, leaves behind a special legacy, not only being loved by those whose lives she touched, but teaching them what love truly is – devotion, commitment, understanding and perseverance.

I’m at a loss for words to express how heartbroken I am at the loss of our beautiful Aunt Delores.
She was deeply loved by all who were blessed to know her.
I recently read something Lola Lawrence wrote, “It’s in the quiet I miss you most. When my mind has a chance to wander and my heart has a moment to remember”. Her words express what I cannot as I grieve.
May the Lord take you into His loving arms and keep you Aunt Delores.
