Gerald Thomas Mixon 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Born on May 3, 1949, in Panama City, Florida, Jerry was a beloved son of Alfred and Janice Mixon. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve before dedicating over two decades of service to the State of Florida in the fields of probation and vocational rehabilitation. He retired in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and compassion to his community.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 27 wonderful years, Trudie Mixon. He was a loving father to Taylor Mixon (Hillary), Carl Kirkland Jr. (Patricia), and Carla Kirkland. He was also a cherished grandfather to Jordan, Ashton, Scott, Edward and Charles, and a proud great-grandfather to Abigail, Ella, and Kayden. Also surviving Jerry is his younger brother, Donald Mixon (Jenny), his furry friends, 15 year old Tortie – Spunky and 10 year old Ragamuffin – Tippy.

A man of many interests, including reading and travel. Jerry had a lifelong love for classic cars. He was a founding member of the Panhandle Cruisers, where he combined his passion for vintage automobiles with his joy of music, DJing club events every Saturday night.

Brackney Funeral Service (www.brackneyfuneralservice.com) has arranged a small, private graveside service for the family which will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Florida.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family kindly requests donations toward Parkinson’s research for a cure be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (michaeljfox.org) in Jerry’s memory.

My dearest Trudie, I’m so sorry for your loss! I have known Jerry from the beginning of this beautiful romance that has blossomed between each of you..He loved you with passion and laughter!! True life partners that were able to find each other and love and laugh with each other.
