Jeremy Clanton Stewart

November 18, 1976~April 17, 2025

JEREMY CLANTON STEWART, age 48, of Baker, Florida, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on November 18, 1976, to Ned and Barbara Stewart, he grew up with a love for building – and for people- that would guide his life’s work.

Jeremy was a proud graduate of Crestview Senior High School, Class of 1995, where he played football helping lead the team to regional playoff victories, and competed on the weightlifting team. In 1999, Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Florida in engineering technology and building construction while working full time. He then embarked on a career as a licensed Florida Residential Contractor in 2001 and Alabama in 2013. In 2002, he founded Jeremy Stewart Construction, through which he helped countless families turn dreams into houses and houses into homes. Whether it was a modest kitchen remodel or a full-scale custom build, he approached every project with integrity, hard work, and a genuine desire to serve. His clients came to rely not just on his skill with hammer and nail, but on his kindness, his honesty, and his willingness to go the extra mile. He received various awards and accolades for his work such as four-time Builder of the year award, four-time winner of the Parade of Homes, five-time award recipient at the Parade of Homes and Realtors Choice Award. Jeremy was a past president of both the statewide Florida Home Builders Association and local Okaloosa Walton chapter serving multiple terms on each board and served on their legislative committee as well as a general member of the National Association of Home Builders. Jeremy also served locally with the Okaloosa County Planning Commission, Affordable Housing Advisory Committee and the Contractor Licensure Board.

Beyond the job site, Jeremy was known as an avid outdoorsman and for his generosity in the community- building houses for veterans through Homes for our Troops; assisting Habitat for Humanity builds, mentoring young tradespeople just starting out, and always keeping an open door (and open toolbox) for friends, neighbours, and strangers in need.

Jeremy’s proudest role was that of father. “Dad” was the title he wore above all others. He is survived by his children, Ashton Stewart Kampa her husband Grant and soon to be baby Kampa, Avery Dean Stewart and Chandler Clanton Stewart. Jeremy’s children were his crowning achievement: his hunting partners, little helpers on every DIY project, the biggest fan at their school events, and the light of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Davis Stewart. Jeremy leaves behind his Grandmother Lucille Stewart, Father Ned Stewart, Brother Brad Stewart his wife Carrie and their children Jamison, Weston, Sophie and Elizabeth, and his girlfriend Charlie Nelson along with a host of extended family and friends whose lives he enriched with his laughter, loyalty, and love.

A celebration of Jeremy’s life will be held at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church on April 23, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the BIA scholarship Fund in the name of Jeremy Stewart, reflecting his lifelong passion for helping others. You may donate by contacting the Building Industry Association at (850) 863-5107 or directly on their website: https://tinyurl.com/8985ykj3

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in every home he built, in every life he touched, and most of all, in the hearts of his children. May we honor him by carrying forward his kindness, his craftsmanship, and the joy he found in building both houses and happy memories with his family.

Mr. Ned and Brad –

As are many, I am working to process the loss of a truly kind, caring, gentle, and loyal friend, your son and brother, Jeremy. It goes without saying that I will miss him until we meet again someday.

Through my friendship with Jeremy, I always felt connected to you all and many in the local community since leaving Crestview to pursue my professional career and start a family. His character was shown through his willingness to take a random phone call or last minute visit when we came to town. I am eternally grateful for the friendship we forged and maintained over the years.

May the Lord fill you all with comfort and peace and work through all of you during this time and in the future.

My sincerest Love, Brian
