James E. Patterson Jr., long time resident of Laurel Hill, passed away on March 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on September 7, 1942, in Huntington, West Virginia to James E. Patterson Sr. and Madeline (Nee Dailey) Patterson. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and shipped out to the Viet Nam War as a Combat Photographer. After completing his tour of duty, he continued to serve at duty locations around the world; his final assignment bringing him to Eglin AFB, FL.
Jim was a true patriot and continued to serve his country as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service. Once retired, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and camping, or just watching classic TV westerns and Dr. Pol.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia Ann Ferrell.
Jim is survived by his wife, Olga Patterson (Nee Faulkner), daughter Cheddy and her husband Bill Walkowiak, son James Patterson III. and his wife Laura, as well as a grandson, Taylor and great grandchildren.
His family has organized a viewing at the Brackney Funeral Service Chapel on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in Crestview, FL.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Reeder Cemetery in Laurel Hill Florida with Pastor Adam Duckworth officiating. The military will be honoring Jim’s service at Reeder Cemetery.
The family requests a donation be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
