Laura Ann Wilson 60, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 peacefully at home after facing many medical issues. Laura was born on February 26, 1964 to Dewayne and Barbara Lewis in Centreville, Illinois. After her move here from St. Louis, Laura has been a long time resident of Walton County.
Laura loved her family dearly! She will be sorely missed, but forever cherished. Laura had a love for all animals, she could never turn a stray away! She enjoyed volunteering with local rescues before her health declined. She enjoyed cooking and having her family over anytime, but especially for the holidays. She enjoyed spending time at her river house and the beach any chance she got! Laura’s smile, laugh and witty personality made her easy to love. We will forever be grateful for every meal, trip, laugh and story that was shared, as well as every sweet memory that was made along the way.
Her family would like to extend gratitude to the ICU Doctors, Nurses and Staff at North Okaloosa Medical Center; Especially Katie and Tosha, Thank you for helping her regain strength and give her the encouragement she needed to return home with her family and her puppies Molly, Baby, Pinkie and Elliot. Even if it was for a short period- We are truly thankful for you all and for every moment we had with her!
Laura is preceded in Death by: Her Parents: Dewayne Cecil Lewis & Barbara Ann Lewis, Sister: Carolyn Daughtry,
Daughter: Jessica Lynn Germain Son: Kendall Edward Germain
Laura Survived by: Her loving Husband of 33 years, Leonard (Leo) Wilson Jr. Son: James Michael Reams his wife Amber. Stepdaughter: Cassie Lee Wilson Daughter: Alicia Michele Boutwell her husband Jason; and her beloved grandchildren Jaslynn, Jordan, Cailin, Jaeda, Kendyl, Willow and Ellie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service in Crestview, Florida.

Laura had a unique laugh,& you couldn’t help not laugh when she laughed !! I always enjoyed bumping into her when she worked in FWB at the produce stand !! Rest in peace now my friend

Dear Leo
I was driving home and I saw the Brackney marquee. I called them to confirm it was your Laura. I know how fast 33 years can pass and how short it seems looking back. If I read the obituary correctly—Jessica and one of her children passed? I am so so very sorry for Laura and you to have endured so much loss. I hope you will grieve as you need and know it gets better and then worse-ups and downs-never in a straight line. Some good days and some not so go with it and be kind to yourself.
