Mary Lawson Shaud, age 71, of DeFuniak Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 17, at her home. Mary was born on November 8, 1952 to George Lawson and Lanie Belle Sowell Lawson in the old Enzor Hospital, Crestview, Florida and was raised in the Escambia Farms Community, where she grew up as a farm girl. She was the youngest of five children and graduated from Baker High School in 1972.
She met her husband Robert Steven Shaud, Jr., on a blind date in June 1972 and married in October 1973. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October 2023. During this time Mary and Steve moved from Escambia Farms to Crestview and after Crestview became too crowded, they moved to DeFuniak Springs, Fl in 1988 where Mary lived until her passing.
Mary worked at S&L Autobody for several years and met several people and friends by “accident”.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her Stepmother Nellie B. Lawson, a sister Corine Moseley and a brother Edward Lawson.
Mary is survived by her husband Steve Shaud, a brother Edgar Lawson and a sister Ann Nowling (Jack).
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, February 20, at the Cotton Cemetery, 1896 Olin Cotton Road, Baker, FL 32531 with Pastor Mike McVay officiating.
Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, is entrusted with arrangements.

Aunt Mary, I can’t believe you are gone. I’m glad you are no longer in pain. I’m glad we got to spend your 50th Wedding Anniversary with you and Uncle Steve. I know how excited you were to be married to your soul mate Uncle Steve for 50 years. That is a long time. I’m glad we got to see you a couple of weeks ago and that we took pictures. ❤️ We Love you and miss you Becky and Khanh

I still remember the days in Crestview when we lived one street over form y’all. Mary will be missed. She is not just your loss, but our loss too. We love you, and the family is in our thoughts and prayers.
