Matthew Lucas Smith

Matthew L. (Matt) Smith, 59, of Fort White, Florida passed away Thursday, November25, 2021 at his mother’s home. Matt was born on August 7, 1962, in Hayti, Missouri to Lessie and Dollie Smith. He was raised in Apopka, Florida and was a tree surgeon who enjoyed playing country music and his guitar. Matt learned how to play the guitar at the age of 6 after his grandpa bought his first guitar. He enjoyed fishing and was a Baptist by faith.
Matthew is preceded in death by his father, Lessie Ray Smith.
Matthew is survived by his mother, Dollie Snipes of Laurel Hill, special friend, Darlene Moody, two brothers, Steven Smith, Josh Smith, two nieces, Nathasha Stephens, Dollie Smith, great niece, Bridgette, nephew, Steve Smith, great nephew, Aiden Smith and numerous cousins and extended family.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021, beginning 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Pastor Jason Stokes officiating. Burial to follow at Rock Hill Cemetery in Laurel Hill, Florida. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 2nd from 1 – 2 pm.
