Max Vernon Nabors was born on Valentine’s Day of 1942 in a small mining town on the Warrier River in Birmingham, AL to Mack and Eula Nabors. He passed away on December 18, 2024 in Baker, Florida with his wife Barbara Nabors and his daughter Amanda by his side. 

He is survived by his son Marc Vernon Nabors, his daughter Amanda Nabors and his wife of 58 years Barbara Nabors. He also is survived by his grandchildren: Savannah, Ethan, Morgan, Caroline and Charlotte. 

He is preceded by Eula and Mack Nabors, and his siblings Carl, Lorraine, and Lucille Nabors. 

Max served 4 years in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in the 1960’s. He was on a ship in Guantánamo Bay off the coast of Cuba during the Bay of Pigs.  

He was an active member of Liberty Park Baptist church in Birmingham Alabama. 

Vernon had a masters degree from the University of Alabama and Samford University. He retired from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Small Business Development Center after spending a large portion of his career in accounting.  

Vernon loved the outdoors and his garden. Fruits and vegetables were his passion along with l.ong walks and sunsets. 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Goodhope Baptist Church in Baker, Florida with Pastor Patrick Phrimmer officiating. Burial to follow at Cotton Cemetery (across from church). The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Goodhope Baptist Church.
