Maxine N. Griffith

May 27, 1932~May 23, 2025

Maxine Griffith, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Born on May 27, 1932, Maxine lived a life full of love, generosity, and grace, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Preston and Edna Nixon, as well as her dear brother, Ronald.

Maxine’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Jerry and Judy, and embraced their spouses, Lisa and Billy, as her own children. She was a proud grandmother to Erika and Britney, and welcomed Britney’s husband, Sawyer, into the family with open arms. Her love grew even deeper with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Kiptyn, who brought endless joy and laughter into her life. Nana’s home was always filled with warmth, the scent of home-cooked meals, and the comfort of her nurturing spirit.

She also leaves behind her siblings—Sylvia, Nita (Norman), Audrey, Clinton (Carolyn), and Alton (Katie) —who will continue to honor her memory and the enduring love they shared.

Maxine found great joy in simple pleasures. She had a special gift for gardening, tending to her flowers and plants with the same care she gave to her loved ones. In the kitchen, her meals brought family together, and her recipes became treasured traditions, such as family dinners on Sunday, and her annual Halloween cookies and Christmas divinity.

Maxine’s unwavering faith in God was the cornerstone of her life. She was a quiet but powerful example of Christian love. She had a heart of service, always putting others before herself. Maxine was a living testimony to her belief in the goodness of God. Her life was a true testament to the power of love, compassion and family. She will be missed more than words can express but celebrated every day by those whom she so freely loved.

Well done, good and faithful servant.

Rest in the arms of your Savior.

Your love and faith live on.

Many happy memories growing up just across woods dear cousin. Since I just turned 90
we played and walked the trails to visit as youngsters. I moved around a lot after I
married but visited back home a lot and kept up with each other.
A great soul is with God.
Love to all the family.

I have known Maxine all of my life, and her strong faith in God will never be forgotten. She was a very close friend to my mother. I also remember when my Grannie Adams passed away in the late 1960s; Maxine and Merle Holt, another great lady, were with her for several days until the end. I will never forget Maxine, she was a very dear, sweet lady.
