*Rhonda “Sue” Fernandez**
Sue Fernandez (67) passed away on December 20, 2024, after a battle with cancer, in Crestview, Florida, surrounded by her loved ones
Sue was born on March 21, 1957, in Valparaiso, Florida. She graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School and spent her career as an Okaloosa County School Bus Driver before retiring. Sue was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother (Mawmaw). Those who knew her recognized her as a caretaker, mediator, and “Switzerland.”
Mom took her job as Mawmaw seriously. She showed up to every event she could to support her ten grandbabies, cooked their favorite meals, and spoiled them by buying unnecessary gifts ALL the time! In retirement, while taking care of her brother Joe for as long as she could, she also found the love of internet shopping. Mom always put her kids and everyone around her first. She was an amazing mother who supported her five children no matter what. She worked hard and ensured we had what we needed, while she often did not worry about her own needs. As parents, we marvel at all that she did for us; she was superwoman and she set a good example of what a parent/mom should be.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Fernandez; her parents, James Edward and Peggy Fleming; her father- and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Adelia Fernandez; her daughter-in-law, Heather Fermin; her brother, Skipper Fleming; and her nephews, Brian Mondragon and Paul Fernandez.
Sue is survived by her children: Michael Fermin, Sharla (Lowell) James, Jonathan Fernandez, Adelia (Nick) Slade, and Kristina (Thomas) Tardif. She also leaves behind her ten grandchildren: Connor (Alice), Savannah, Crystal, Parker, Porter, Watson, Warner, Tate, Paxton, and Lane. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings: Guanda Bauer, Kenny (Denise) Fleming, Joe Fleming, Liz (Gene) Ruskowski, Tammy (Eric) Forsythe, and sister-in-law Patti Fleming, along with many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A graveside burial will take place at Crowder Chapel Cemetery at 1680 Crowder Chapel Road in Mossy Head, Florida, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM.

My condolences to the family. Had not seen her for years but I’m sure she will be greatly missed. We had fun visiting her mother and all the kids when we had family reunions.
