Richard (Dick) Marshall, 90, went to his eternal home on October 21, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Richard was born on April 3, 1933, in Miami Florida, to Clayton and Flora Marshall. The family later moved to Edgerton, Ohio. At the age of four Richard lost his mother, and Harriet Marshall became his stepmother and raised him and his brothers to adulthood.
Richard graduated from Edgerton High School in 1951, and then attended Michigan State University for two years. He graduated from Lincoln Christian University in 1956, and then attended Lincoln Christian Seminary before entering full-time ministry. He served at churches in Illinois, Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina, planting or establishing five of those congregations, and preached for revivals in several other states. Richard served as a Christian minister for over 60 years, retiring at age 75, though he continued preaching and teaching and serving as needed in several other churches.
He served on Ministerial Associations in Sanford and Kissimmee, Florida, as President of the Florida Christian Convention in 1974, and as President of Central Florida New Church Evangelizing Association for three years. He served on the Board of Trustees at Atlanta Christian College and Florida Christian College. He also taught a preaching course at Florida Christian College.
Richard married Elizabeth (Betty) Marshall in 1957 and started a family in 1958. As the family grew they enjoyed traveling, camping, hiking, taking the scenic routes to enjoy God’s beautiful handiwork, golfing, and ice cream. But most of all he enjoyed leading people to the Lord. He has touched countless lives over the years and will be dearly missed by many.
Richard was pre-deceased by his parents Clayton Marshall, Sr., Flora (Pullen) Marshall, stepmother Harriett (Engler) Marshall, brothers Floyd, Eldred, and Clayton Marshall, Jr., and great-grandson Bear Jones Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty, son John Marshall and wife Debbie, daughter Martha (Martie) Courtney and husband Bobby, son Jim Marshall and wife Debra, son Joe Marshall and wife Javonda, daughter Mary Bolen and husband Tim, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Grandpa lived a long and beautiful life, setting an example of what it means to be a faithful servant of God. His family has been blessed as He and Grandma have left a legacy of faith in how they have lived their lives. The Lord has welcomed him home to his forever home, and we long await the day we will join him there. We will keep Grandpa in our hearts until that joyful day when we join him in Heaven. His life had so much meaning and purpose and he lived it so well. The Lord welcomes home his good and faithful servant. He and our baby, Bear, are now forever in the glorious presence of God.
Grandma, we love you and lift you up to our Lord, the father of all comfort. 66 years with your sweet and wonderful husband. Our hearts are with you as you grieve this heavy loss. But we know we are not people who mourn without hope. For you will see grandpa again. We love you so very much. More importantly, God loves you. And He will be with you always.
