Robert Plexton Brooks, known affectionately as Bo, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the age of 62, in Baker, Florida. Born on December 17, 1962, Bo spent his early years in Milton, Florida, where he completed his high school education. He dedicated much of his life to farming in Okaloosa County and in his later years work at Okaloosa County road crew, a career that spoke to his love for the land and community.
Bo was vibrant and outgoing individual, always a pleasure to be around. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, activities that reflected his deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. He was a faithful attendee of Pyron Chapel, where he found spiritual solace and community. His commitment to his faith was evident in how he lived and interacted with those around him.
Bo is survived by his daughter, Christina Brooks; his sisters, Pat Wheeles and Betty Stow; his grandchildren, Lexy, Nevaeh, and Robert; and nephews, Michael and Donoi Whitehead and Jayden Villaire.
Bo is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Brooks; his father, Robert Junior Brooks; and his sister, Jean Whitehead & his niece, Heather Wheeles.
Funeral service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Pyron Chapel Baptist Church in Baker, Florida with Pastor McGraw officiating. Burial to follow at Pyron Chapel Cemetery.ย The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Pyron Chapel Baptist Church. A lunch for family and friends will be provided at the church after the services.
In Lieu of Flowers the family suggests that contributions in Bo’s memory be made to Pyron Chapel Baptist Church honoring his commitment to his place of worship and it’s community.
