Roger “D.T.” Arnold Nichols, 75 passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Roger was born on October 5, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to James and Susan Nichols. After graduating from high school, Roger was drafted into the United States Air Force to then retire as a MSGT after 22 years of honorable service during the Vietnam Era.
Roger had orders to Eglin Air Force Base where he later retired in the late 80’s. He was a jack of all trades after the Air Force but later retired in life as a maintenance technician for Riverwood Apartments.
Roger was a member of VNVLV MC Chapter Zulu.
For those who love motorcycles, riding isn’t just a hobby. It’s a passion, a community and a way of life. The highways and byways are a sacred place filled with friends who are like family, where they share pit stops and years of cherished memories. Roger loved his second family, his club (the brotherhood) where he was thought of as a generous and kind man, always thinking of others and willing to help anyone in need.
Roger will be missed by his children, his brothers, his family and his furry friends, Shadi, Bane and Kiwi.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Susan Marie Thiel and James Arnold Nichols and his daughter, Stacie Nichols.
Roger is survived by his best friend, Rosemary McKissick, his three sons, Chris Nichols (Fiancé Ashley Grym-Rivers), Brian Nichols and Steven Nichols, his daughters, October Rooney, Sarah Short, Heidi Nichols and Lotte Nichols and nine grandchildren.
“A Bikers Prayer”
May the sun rise in front of me, the rain fall behind me and the wind follow me. May the angels guard my travels for they know what is ahead of me. Keep me safe through rolling hills and swirling turns. Let the eagle guide me to the mountain tops. Let the moon’s light guide me through the night. Lord, thank you for letting me be a BIKER! Amen
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, beginning at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Chaplain Terry “Chappy” Adkinson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
If anyone would like to order flowers, Roger’s favorite flowers were crepe myrtles and red and black roses.

Hey daddy it’s Steven.Im lost for words.I can say this I love you and miss you more then the world.I wish I would have reached out to you more often.I seen Brian the other day and I cried my eyes out for he looks so much like you it’s crazy.I will carry you with me all my life as I did before just didn’t show you as much and I HATE myself for that..The old saying you don’t know what you got till it’s gone and I now know I’m a fool for not showing you more love as your son.I would do anything to bring you back just so I can really make it right between us (father and son). You will NEVER be forgotten and you definitely will be missed by more people than you know. I think about the times we had with each other all them poker runs, toys for tots, pumpkin run and more.Save me a seat up there in heaven I really do miss you daddy and I will always love you for you are my dad ROGER ARNOLD NICHOLS.AKA Double Time..Yes I remember your nickname. Dad, I’ve always worried about this day & I hate it came when it did. I don’t understand God’s actions but I know him calling you up was for special duties that he could only trust you with. I love you deeply. See you again, give heaven some hell on two wheels. ❤️🖤

My heart broke when I heard of Rogers passing. I worked with Roger for over 5 years at Riverwood. We became great friends and at one point neighbors. My prayers go out to his family, especially his children. May he be at peace and riding on the golden roads to heaven.
