Russel Owen Byers Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Russel (Russ) Owen Byers, 63, of Crestview, Fl passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Ft Walton Beach, Fl surrounded by the love of his wife, sister, brother, and his kids.
Russ was born January 14, 1958 in Muscatine, IA to Velma Davis. When Russ was 8 years old, he went to live with his sister Ann, her husband Del, and their daughter Lorie who was like a sister to him. In 1976, After graduating from Edwardsville High School, in Edwardsville, IL Russ joined the United States Air Force. After the Air Force he traveled the country as an Over the Road Truck driver; He was the owner of Home At Last furniture store, Crestview, FL; and Owner of Elray Enterprises, Crestview, FL, where he worked beside his wife Lisa for the last 20+ years.
In October 1979 Russ met the love of his life Lisa whom he married the following year on Valentine’s Day. They spent the next 41 years building a beautiful life with their three sons Justin, Logan, and Trevor. Russ loved fishing, playing guitar, listening to music, photography, and working with his hands building and fixing things in his free time. He was always there if someone needed help or if they just needed to sit and talk. He was a friend and mentor to so many people throughout his life.
Above all Russ was a family man. He loved his family first and spent his life making sure his wife, kids, and grandchildren knew how much he loved them. He is loved just as much by us all.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Lisa Byers of Crestview, Fl; His children Justin Byers and his wife April of Crestview, Fl, Logan Byers of Crestview, Fl, and Trevor Byers of Crestview, Fl; His grandsons Christopher Roller Jr of Jacksonville, Fl and Jonathan Roller of Crestview, Fl; His Granddaughter Kaitlyn Byers of Crestview, Fl; His sisters Ruth M Byers (Sayre), Omaha, NE, Velma Ann Byers (Sewell) Mesa, AZ; His brother Walter L (Jake) Byers Cedarville, AR; and a never ending list of loved ones and friends.
Russel was preceded in death by Velma Davis (mother), Johnny and Nell Schmitz (grandparents), Dell Schmitz (brother-in-law).
A life so beautiful deserves the gathering of family and friends closest to him. He has touched the hearts of many and we would love to share stories and laughs with the people who meant so much to him. Please join us for his Celebration of Life Service on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Brackney Funeral Services 480 East James Lee Blvd Crestview, Fl 32539. Visitation will be at 2pm followed by the Service at 3pm. Dinner will be after services 4:30-5 at Fellowship Hall 550 Adams Drive Crestview, Fl 32536.
In Lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to help support the local churches in our area.

You knew Russ loved his family by the way he talked of the boys and Lisa, always with a smile. He was such a super nice person, always made your visit to the office less stressful. He will be sorely missed by all.

Russ begin filling out my taxes in 1985 and was in the Crestview Photo Club. I soundly remember shooting a Baker football game with him and his grandson on the field.
