  • Sara Sue Reese of Crestview born August 21, 1949
She was adopted by Lonnie and Elenor Reese also of Crestview FL. and was their only child.
Sara has many family members from her birth mother that she has found over the years. The town of Crestview loves Sara and according to Sara she was related to most people here. In reality there’s been a Maternal Cousin Mark and wife Joy who have been wonderful to Sara over the years.
Wayne and Charlie are her living birth siblings. Doris Alford her sister who proceeded her in death. Alonzo Alford her nephew would stop by and check on her, and she loved him, and was thankful for that.
Sara was a member of First Pentecostal Church for many years, she began selling peanut brittle under the ministry of the late Marvin Holt, and was the only one to continue selling it till just a few years ago. She was known locally as the peanut brittle lady. She would take orders and then insist someone at the church make it. So usually we did since she had already promised to deliver it, and most times already had the money for it.
Sara also was very talented, she sang and played the accordion. The last few weeks of life was still singing from a hospital bed and then a nursing home. Now she’s joined a huge angel choir and in perfect health, a brand new body. I believe she’s hitting them high notes like she’s always dreamed of. My favorite song that she sang was Miracle in the Making.
She has had many special friends over the years who would step up and help her.
Darlene, Wanda, Betty, Lana, Kaye, just to name a few that comes to mind. This community has been very good to Sara.
For that we as her family and church family are very thankful. Sara loved angels, at one time was seriously trying to figure out how to have wings in her casket. I’ve often figured that Sara was one of those angels that we were entertaining unaware. Whether that’s the case or not, Sara fell into the category of the least of these according to scripture. She was alone for the most part and managed to find a group of people of all walks of life who would give her money, check on her, bring her places, and tend to her well, and as her Pastor, if you did anything for Sara I want to assure you that Jesus didn’t miss any of it, as you did kindnesses for her, it was done unto Jesus personally. Thank you Crestview for loving and caring for Sara. For a long time I’ve called her the “People’s Champion” she spent a life time proving people wrong, she proved she could take care of herself, live by herself and do for herself, which she did for many years. She walked these roads keeping her little body as strong possible, until the pandemic happened and she was afraid to come out much after that. People were still checking on her and last year for her birthday she received many cards and letters form the community to encourage her, and to show her she wasn’t forgotten. Thank you Dee for setting that up.
Sara Sue Reese, our little Champ, may you rest in the loving arms of Jesus as long as you want to, we all know that at some point you’re gonna want to get down and go explore this place you’ve only dreamed about. We love you and we will see you soon.

  • Through the passing of two husbands, Brackney Funeral Home has gone above and beyond my greatest expectations. Brackney knows and appreciates the dynamics of losing a loved one. They are truly caring, sympathetic, and proactive in seeing to the minute details not thought of during the trying times. They are down to earth and easy to talk with anytime. In my experience, Brackney’s aftercare was second to none. I know some of my quirky requests made us both laugh and took trying times and made them so much more bearable. No matter what my needs were, no matter the time of day or night, Brackney Funeral Home was there to help. We are not promised tomorrow — God’s timing is not ours — Brackney’s will always be my go-to funeral home.
