Sybil Helms Martin

Sybil Louise Helms Martin, 72, a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2021, after a lengthy illness, complicated by Covid.

Sybil was born at the old Santa Rosa Hospital on Stewart Street in Milton. She was the daughter of Connie and Minnie Ethel (Lunsford) Helms, both deceased. She attended Harold Elementary School and graduated from Milton High School in 1967.

She was employed by Santa Rosa Medical Center for 26 years and retired from Baptist Medical Center after 17 years. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald E Helms,Sr., a brother-in-law, J P Williams, of Neosho, Mo and a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Martin Hohman, of Warner Robins, Ga.

Sybil is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Ted Martin of Milton; a daughter Suzanne Martin Ward (Stephen) of Allentown; a son Todd Kelly Martin (Jessica) of Crestview; two very special nieces, Cynthia Helms Price (Billy) of Milton and Kimi Box (Aaron) of Neosho, Mo; a sister Ouida Helms Williams of Neosho, Mo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Debbie Martin Moore of Milton, Bruce and Bobbie Martin of Bolivar, Mo; a brother in law Russell E Hohman of Warner Robins, Ga.; a granddaughter Stepheny Alexis Ward of Milton; grandsons Andrew Todd Martin of Ogden, Utah, Alexander Reid Martin and Aiden James Martin both of Crestview, Fl , Brian Ward (Melissa), and Brent Ward both of Milton, Trey Price of Milton and Grey Price of Tuscaloosa, Al; Great grandsons Addison Spence, Titus and Joel Ward all of Milton; an aunt, Ernestine Broxson Lunsford of Milton; a special workmate friend Ann Stinson; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11am, Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Milton Cemetery with Rev. Dustin Lambert, Rev. John Edwards, Rev. Mike Poston and Elder Mike Wing officiating, and Brackney Funeral Service of Crestview directing.

Family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to: Santa Rosa Kids House (for abused children), 5643 Stewart Street, Milton, Florida 32570, in Sybil’s memory.

The family wishes to express their deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to Covenant Hospice and especially her nurse Lacey Goulet, for all her love and care given to Sybil during her time of need.
