Austin W. Harrison
1925 to 2021
It is with heavy hearts that our Lord and Savior called home his faithful servant and our loving husband, father and grandfather, Austin W. Harrison, age 96, on December 22, 2021.
His legacy will endure for generations and his love for family and friends will always be cherished, as well as his ever-active service as a deacon for over 70 years. He served as Sunday School Director and was active in all phases of church work at Magnolia Baptist Church. He was always helping with school, cemetery and other community needs. He saw action in General Patton’s 3rd Army as a tank driver during World War II and helped liberate Pilsen, Czechoslovakia near the war’s end. He retired from Civil Service at Eglin AFB in 1975.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Mildred, a son Dale Harrison, daughter Debra and Leon Green, and two grandchildren, Eric and Bethany Harrison of Lynchburg, VA and Allison and Greg Boyett of Crestview. Two great grandsons, Austin and James Harrison, as well as two nieces, Patti and Dave Gordon and Shelby Harrison, and two nephews, Gary Harrison, and Bob and Ditra Campbell of Birmingham, AL. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.
Austin died the way he lived his life, with honor, dignity, honesty and dedication to giving one’s all to country, family, friends and those who worked for and with him.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure”. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal”.
A celebration of Austin’s life will be held at Brackney Funeral home on Monday, Dec. 27th, at 11 A.M, with visitation beginning at 10:30.
