This is from Carl McArthur, former stake president of the Pensacola Florida Stake.
I set Carlos apart for his calling as a member of the stake high counsel and one of his responsibilities was to oversee the stake welfare project in Baker, Florida, (watermelons, corn, catfish, etc.) which he carried out faithfully. He was assigned to go to Atlanta and visit the welfare facilities there for the purpose of learning how to make our welfare projects more efficient and effective. He spoke in the various wards in the stake and was recognized as a humble servant of God. Carlos also served as an assistant stake clerk under Elroy Stapleton, the first Pensacola Florida Stake stake president, and continued that calling during my tenure.
Carlos had a pleasing personality and was well liked by all who knew him.
On a personal level, Carlos ask me to help him give a blessing to his wife, who was very sick at the time, when I came to Arizona and visited with him and one of his daughters. We had planned to do a session in the Mesa Temple but were delayed and unable to make it.
Sister McArthur and I offer our prayers for the family and want them to know how sad we are to hear of Carlos’ passing.
