ELWYN KING
Elwyn Lynn King, 84, passed away on Tuesday November 9th, 2022 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1938 in Baker, FL to Bessie (Gillis) and W.J. “Jack” King. He was raised in Baker, Florida and went to Baker School, where he played basketball. As a young man he enjoyed fishing and bird hunting with his father. He worked at the Baker Mercantile Store along side his father for many years even while working at the Post Office. For a time he was also with the Baker volunteer fire department. He was employed with the United States Postal Service, as a Rural Carrier and retired in 1995. He spent the rest of his life doing service for others, including serving the Catholic Care Center at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and their Vacation Bible School, mostly working side by side his wife Kathy.

He is pre deceased by his parents and his wife Kathy Kelley King and survived by his sisters: Ellen Brooks, Reba Simms and Joyce King; his brothers-in-law’s: Al (Beth), Rick (Janet), and Jon Kelley; his nieces and nephews:

Eric (Lisa) Brooks, Melanie (Geoff) Kelley, John King Simms, Alison (Jim) and Trinidee Mercado, Tara (Terri) and Lola, Patrick, Bella, and Mattie Kelley; as well as numerous cousins, great nieces, nephews and friends. He was incredibly kind, humble, and selfless, and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He was beloved by those who knew him well. He will be dearly missed.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, beginning at 1:00 p.m., from Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Crestview, Florida, with Father Roy Marien officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Crestview, Florida.

Sure sorry to hear of his passing, always helped out people especially the elderly. Was the best mail carrier we ever had on our route. Such a good person.

So sorry for your loss. Prayers for all the King & Kelley families. I am sure he will be missed. I have fond memories of going to Mr. King’s Store for the coldest, icy Cokes, along with groceries and items you couldn’t always find elsewhere! That seems like just a short while ago…
