George “Lonnie” Price
Our hearts are broken to share that our Daddy, the best PawPaw, George “Lonnie” Price passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his residence with his loving wife, Rosie Price by his side. Lonnie was an Okaloosa County native, life long resident of Baker, Florida. He was a 1965 graduate of Baker High School, graduating with his high school sweetheart, Rosie. Lonnie and Rosie married in June 1965, celebrating their 58th anniversary this year.
As a little boy, Lonnie learned to work hard and to provide for his family. Lonnie worked several jobs before his lifelong career as a farmer, and he knew how to grow the most beautiful crops. Later, he started Price Trucking, traveling across the country with produce. His love for nature, large equipment, and his trait of hard work led him to pursue the logging business which he did for many years. His most recent work adventure was developing the subdivision Price Plantation as well as other small subdivisions in the Baker and Crestview area.
If you knew Lonnie, you knew he loved his family. He was always ready for a good meal, a day at the camp, or just for any of his kids and grandkids to stop by for a visit. PawPaw always had a dollar in his pocket for his grandkids, ice cream in the freezer, and loved to hear about all their adventures. He was so proud of each grandkid and was blessed beyond measure with one great-grandson that he loved so much.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his father, George Henry Price, mother Lillie Mae Faulk, sister Elizabeth Merritt, brothers Henry Price and Donnie Price, mother and father-in-law Grady and Myrtle Baggett, brothers and sister in-law James Baggett, Joseph Baggett, Gracie Mae Tew and infant great grandbabies Norah Ann and Lennox Don Price.
Lonnie will be deeply missed by all who loved him, Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Rosie Price, children Nancy Strong, husband Patrick, Peggy Price-Pierce, husband LeRoy. He was the loving PawPaw to his grandchildren December Smith, George Price, wife Rachel, Patrick Strong, Jr., LeRoy Alan Pierce,Jr., Shelton Pierce, Victoria Strong, Jackson Pierce, and great grandson George Tucker Price. He was a loving brother to his siblings and extended family Lucille King (TC), Harvie Price (Peggy), Jimmy Price (Olena), Linda Cruz (Glenn), Larry Price (Oksana), Marty Price, Georgeann McDonald (Dean), Margaret Queen (Tony), and David Price (Janet), Grady Baggett Jr., Dorothy Simmons, Elna Cotton, Ola Lawson (Jimmy), many nieces, nephews, many special friends.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at New Beginnings Church in Crestview with Pastors Jason Stokes and David Bracewell officiating. Burial to follow at Cotton Cemetery (Good Hope Baptist Church in Escambia Farms). Lonnie was a hard working man and will be missed so much. I had the privilege of working for Lonnie for a few years and had the time of my life. He taught me more during those few years about farming and trucking and I loved going to work for 25.00 a day. The work was hard but fun and he made me appreciate hard work. My condolences to Ms Rosie, I’m sorry for your loss.
Peggy and Nancy my prayers are with you as well as the entrie Price family I love yall like family.
