James Patrick Southard

November 14, 1957~April 05, 2023

James “Jim” Patrick Southard, 65, of Crestview Florida unexpectedly passed on to be with our Lord and Savior on April 5, 2023.  James was born in Manhattan New York on November 14, 1957 to John and Deborah Southard.

James is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Beverly Southard and his son Matthew Southard, two sisters Mary Southard/Kane and her husband Thomas Kane and Barbara Palanjian and 1 niece Dana Ramos and her husband Victor.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by mother-in-law Susan Alice Scovel and niece Lisa Borden.

James graduated from Queen of Peace RC Catholic Church in Flushing New York and had an Associated Degree in Avionics Systems Technology.

James served in the United States Air Force as an jet engine mechanic and retired after 26 years. His assignments took him to North Dakota, the Presidential Support Wing at Andrews AFB Maryland, Seoul Korea, Nebraska, HQ Air Combat Command Virginia where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant.  After retirement James and Beverly moved to Crestview Florida in 2002 where they started working for themselves by flipping houses (long before it was cool and on TV) and renovating houses for rental properties.  He was an avid reader from novels to taxes, investments to current affairs.  He was a volunteer Tax preparer on base as well as an H&R Block tax preparer.  He enjoyed going on vacations many beaches with his favorite being going to Hawaii where he took his wife every 5 years (after retirement) for their anniversary. At home Jim enjoyed taking long walks with his wife and dog Daisy or if the weather wasn’t good, he walked at Lowes in Crestview and probably talked to everyone who worked at night.  James was a loving Husband and Father and will be greatly missed by his family and always be remembered in their hearts.

God’s got a plan. That perfect plan allowed James Southard to fly into the arms of this Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning. He is home. John 3:16.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 11, from Joy Fellowhip in Crestview with Pastor John Reaves officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
