Jewel Deese Boutwell

Jewel Deese Boutwell 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida.

Jewel was born on August 6, 1940, in Falco, Alabama to Franklin and Nancy Deese.  Jewel was a people person who loved being called “Mama Jewel” or “Granny Jewel”. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for Brownie Troop 169. Helping local veterans was a passion of hers as well, she served as President of The Crestview Amvets.

Jewel is preceded in death by her mother and father, Nancy and Frank Deese, her sister, Beatrice Spence, her three brothers, Jernie B., Andrew and Earl Gene Deese.

Jewel is survived by her daughter, Sammie Watson (James), four granddaughters, Joanie Swindle, Jamie Lester (Sean), Heather Busbee (Rusty) and Holly Pennington (Jason), one grandson, Jameson Watson (Miranda), ten great grandchildren, Jason Swindle, Jenna Lester, Wyatt and Blakely Fink, Eli and Noah Pennington, Jameson “JK”, Aria, Anakin, Violet Watson, one sister, Pat Beasley (Winston) and numerous extended family members.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, beginning at 11:00 a.m. from The Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Pastor Jackie Davis officiating and Jerry Anderson. Burial to follow at Beda Cemetery in Wing, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
