Levon and I were close friends at Crestview High School. He and I enlisted in the USAF together in 1954 and enjoyed Boot Camp together but received different assignments and I never saw him again until more than 40 years later, long after I began my career at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. Only a few years ago, I learned about the monthly gathering of our old High School class of 1954 and was happy to see my old friend again where we enjoyed discussing our early days as best friends during high school in Crestview. We had studied Spanish together there and I was always pleased to get messages he sent addressing them to “mi Amigo!” And now I wish mi Amigo the peace of God’s Rest, A Dios, mi Amigo!

From Sue Jones Strickland (Levon’s second cousin) and family,

Terri and Bill, please accept our deepest condolences to you and your families.

We are so deeply saddened to have learned of Levon’s death. All the descendants of the Curtis & Minnie Jones family were quite fond of Levon. We found all of his genealogy work so helpful and it was a lasting tribute to him. We will miss him very much.
