Truman Eugene Murchison, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away in his home in Crestview, Florida on September 15, 2023. He was born on February 26th, 1935 near Holly Springs, Mississippi to Brooks E. Murchison and Ruby E. Johnson.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and hard work that will be forever cherished by his family and friends. He moved to Kokomo, Indiana in his early teens and met Florette in his early 20s. They were married in 1960 and had four beautiful children together. He lived in Kokomo for many years, working for General Motors Electronics as a courier for 30 years, retiring on May 5th, 1986.
Shortly after retirement, they moved to Crestview, Florida, and have been here ever since. He loved working in the yard, mowing the lawn, walking at Twin Hills park, seeing his McDonald’s Coffee Club buddies, cherry pie, watching the news and old western films. He read the newspaper every morning and drank his coffee black. He enjoyed traveling on the open road and he went on many road trips across the country with his wife Florette. He loved history, maps and learning about the U.S. Presidents.
He was the king of car maintenance and always made sure everyone’s cars were up to safe standards. He would often sit on the back porch and put his feet up, reading and enjoying the warm Florida air.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florette Murchison, and his 4 children. Robbin, Rhonda, Roger, and Rebecca. He has 11 grandchildren: Josh, Austin, Krysia, Tanner, Colton, Molly, Wyatt, Garrett, McKenna, Kaitlyn, and Sydney.
Memorial services will be held on September 19th, 2023 at 11:30am, at First Baptist Church of Garden City. 3140 Haskell Langley Rd, Crestview, FL 32539
