Thursday, October 26,2023, Florette Murchison passed away from a devastating disease called Glioblastoma, a short time.from her dx on June 29, 2023.
She was born May 30, 1937 in Brilliant, Alabama, the daughter of Ila Burnett Lambert and Earlie Lambert.
Her most treasured memory of her time spent living in Alabama was her best friend and schoolmate, Martha, at Boston School. During their fourth grade year, Martha passed away and the teacher walked the class to the viewing, which she was forever thankful.
She moved with her family to Kokomo, IN middle school age, along with her cousin Bonnie. She never forgot how good Bonnie was to her. Bonnie helped her acclimate to a city life.
She worked at Delco Electronics until 1987 when she and Truman, her husband, moved to Crestview, FL. They followed her sister Maxine and Don Dewrell for retirement years in the warmer weather.
In Crestview she started working at the Crestview Board of Realtors, which she enjoyed immensely. It was during her time there she developed her love for Crestview. She always calls it “my Crestburg” and a has a passionate belief of great things in store for Crestview.
She loved her TOPS group and her card playing friends at the Crestview Civic Center.
She is survived by sisters Maxine and Pam, brother Kenneth, children Robbin, Rhonda, Roger, and Rebecca, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister June, brothers Marshall and Gene, and husband of 63 years, Truman on September 15, 2023.
A celebration of her achievement of her life long goal of going to heaven will be commemorated at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Garden City.
