June 30, 1932~November 03, 2023

Bobbie Jean Spears Skiles (Nanny) 91, of Crestview, Florida passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 with her loved ones at her side. Bobbie was born on June 30, 1932 in Aberdeen, Alabama to Bryce and Vana Rye and moved to Florida from Columbus, Mississippi in 1946 and has been a resident ever since. She was a homemaker, mother, newspaper carrier and the BEST nanny.

Bobbie Jean never met a stranger & quickly became known as Nanny to most who met her. She had a huge heart and the most beautiful smile. She was an excellent cook and was known for her chicken and dumplings along with her amazing coconut cake. Bobbie was the best story-teller and loved to talk about memories from the past. She loved Jesus and often attended Live Oak Baptist Church with her daughter. She loved to go fishing in her younger years, plant gardens and had the most beautiful rose garden. She lived at the Crestview Manor the last two years of her life with her faithful kitty, Lily. She quickly made many friends while living there and became the adopted grandmother to many of the staff members. She loved watching Walker Texas Ranger, listening to her gospel CD’s, getting her nails done and going on lunch dates. She loved talking about her grandchildren and great grandchildren to anyone who would listen.

Bobbie Jean was a devoted Christian, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She lived a beautiful life and will be greatly missed by her loved ones. The family would like to acknowledge The Crestview Manor Staff and Vitas Hospice team for the love, compassion and care they provided.

Bobbie Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Brice and Vana Rye, two brothers, Billy Rye, Buddy Rye, her sister, Barbara Reeves, her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Banes, her husbands, Ed Skiles and Daniel Leroy Spears – the father of her children.

Bobbie Jean is survived by her children, Fred Spears (Susan), Ricky Spears (Mitzi), Patsy Lawson and Gloria Garcia (Alex), her grandchildren, Joe Banes (Wendy), Bobby Banes(Gina), Micheal Sowell (Teresa), Ben Spears (Sabrina), Jill McKinley (Nick), April Dill (Justin), Tasha Nicholson (Drew), Tiffany Odom, Danny Lawson, Amanda Tilburg (Derrick), great grandchildren, Madison (Colton), Caitlyn, Chandler, Brock, Lily-Kate, Weston, Sadie, Parker, Adalynn, Lawson, Lane, Paxton, Addie, Marnie, Austin, Haylee, Ariana, Hailey, Harrison, Helen, Joe, Cade, Kaiden and Jaryn and many great great grandchildren and extended family members.

Our Angel, Nanny

An angel lived among us,

A gift from God above.

She showered us with kindness

and shared with us her love.

Cherishing each memory with her family she ever made,

Always making each one of them feel love that will never fade.

She’s gone to live with Jesus,

But part of her will always stay.

Smiling down on us from Heaven,

and telling us that she’s never far away.

Nanny, you are our Angel,

Thank you for loving us from above.

We will never forget you, we will never forget your love.

Love you, April

For God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16
