Charles C. Thomas, age 83, of Holt, went home to be with His Lord, on Thursday, January 14, at his home. Charles was born in Laurel Hill on May 22, 1937 and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. He was raised in Laurel Hill and was a 1956 graduate of Laurel Hill High School. Charles loved his family, gospel music, His Lord and Bible. His ministry was serving others. Charles worked with Civil Service, retiring after 34 years of dedicated service. He served as a bivocational Minister of Music, throughout the Okaloosa Baptist Association. During this time, he was instrumental in developing Camp Okaloosa for the Baptist Association and was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
He and his wife served as foster parents for numerous children. Charles was an avid fisher, hunter and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents J.D. Thomas & Ina Campbell Thomas and a brother Don Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Clara Thomas
2 sons David & wife Vicki Thomas
Robbie & wife Nola Thomas
1 brother Clayton & wife Sissy Thomas
1 sister Sandra Green
1 sister in law Edwina Thomas
4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 2:00PM. Monday, January 18, from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service. The family will receive friends beginning at 1PM. Burial will follow in the Almarante Cemetery.
In lieu of flower, the family requests contributions be made to Camp Okaloosa through the Okaloosa Baptist Association.

Dear Clara,David,Robbie,Vicki,Nola and extended family. I am so sorry for your loss. You have all been dear friends for many years. We have made and shared many memories in days gone by. Charles and Clara have always been dear friends to my parents. He will be missed but not forgotten. Praise God it isn’t goodbye, it is so long because we WILL see him again. Keeping all of you in my prayers.

Yes. he and wife Clara loved good ole gospel singing…..Many times we were together at different churches singing the praises to our Lord Even '''dabbled''' little in genealogy… He is now where the journey has ended…With God and relatives and friends in heaven

Charles was a kind and gentle Christian man. He always greeted you with a smile and kind words. God bless and comfort Clara and the boys during this time of loss. Charles will be missed but he left a legacy to be carried forward.
