Charles Leon “Chuck” Kennedy 67, of Baker, Florida passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at his home.

Chuck was born on August 22, 1956 to Charles and Emily Kennedy in Crestview, Florida and was raised in California and Arizona to then move back to his home as an adult to the family farm. Charles Leon Kennedy graduated from Flagstaff (AZ) High School in 1974. Chuck was a retired Captain with the Department of Corrections after over 20 years of dedicated service.

He was a Mormon by faith who loved spending time with his grandchildren and took pride in teaching his grandson how to swim. He was loved by all and will be missed dearly.

Chuck is preceded in death by his mother Emily Porter and his sister, Julie Thompson.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda Kennedy, his father, Charles Edward Kennedy (Sue), his daughters, Alexis Janis (Shaun), Surprise,  Az. and Jennifer Brown, the three stepchildren, Caitlyn Green (Trey), Amanda Maestre (Dominic) and Devon Cassidy, his three brothers, Doug Kennedy (Tara), Patrick Kennedy (Heather) and Frank Kennedy (Dawna), seven grandchildren, Sean, Alaina, Jazmine, Zoie, Lainey, Mikey and Emily and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 beginning at 11;00 a.m. from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Frank Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 10 -11am at the funeral home.

I’m very saddened to hear of Chuck’s passing. I knew him as a dedicated correction officer having met him when he was a sergeant at Okaloosa CI.
As a nurse working in corrections I always knew he had our backs. My condolences to his family and friends.

My condolences to Kennedy’s family he truly was a sweet and kind man. I worked with him at Okaloosa and Santa Rosa for many years. He was always a good friend and person. He had a good soul so I know he’s in the best place he could be and his family can rest assure he will have an everlasting life.

Charles was a great friend and awesome co-worker (OCI family). He was always kind and great patience and his awesome smile it was contagious for sure. We had a many of laughs during those days . Charles you will me missed but we will see you again one day. It was a blessing to have had you as a friend. Rest well on that mountain top friend.
