Donald Joseph “Paint Bucket” Nagel, 71, died April 25, 2021 at his home in Holt, Florida, after a strong fight against cancer.
Donald was born December 21, 1949, in Fort Benning, Georgia to Ervin Joseph Nagel and Thelma May Buchanan. He made a successful business painting homes for over 30 years in the Florida Panhandle and earned the radio handle “Paint Bucket.” When Donald wasn’t painting houses or spending time with his family, you could find him in the woods hunting or on a river bank with a pole in his hands, most of the time with family or his friend Terry Stewart.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ervin Joseph Nagel, and mother, Thelma May Buchanan; brother, Freddy Whitfield; sister, Lynn Moberly; sons, James Stacey Nagel, Anthony Christopher Nagel, Donald Joseph “Joey” Nagel Jr. and wives Mary Louise Nagel and Sandy Nagel. Donald is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Rick Bowden; brother, Kenneth “Skinner” Nagel; sister, Linda Senterfitt; granddaughter Kimberly Dorsey and her husband Dylan Dorsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 1, at Brackney Funeral Home in Crestview. Visitation is at 10 a.m. with a funeral at 11 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Old Holt Cemetery.
