DWIGHT MATTHEW MELTON
1933-2021
Dwight Melton passed from this life on June 1, 2021. He was born
in Baker, Florida to the late Maud McVicker and Leon Matthew Melton. He
attended Baker School and had the honor of playing on the first football team in
1948. He was a devoted husband to his wife of over 50 years Verleen Mathis
Melton. They were blessed with four children, Carol Marsden, Jeanine
Hutcherson, JoAnn Hines, and son Michael Melton. Dwight was preceded in
death by his wife Verleen, his parents, two daughters, Carol Marsden and Jeanine
Hutcherson, three brothers Max, Brad, and Fred Melton, and sisters Mildred
Decker, and Onyx Youngblood. He is survived by two brothers Jim and John
Melton, and many great grandchildren, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Dwight's career included working in the printing business in Kalamazoo,
Michigan and Phoenix, Arizona. After retiring from his printing business, he
owned and operated a landscaping and construction company until he retired and
moved back to Baker.
Dwight's family would like to thank the all the personnel from Shoal
Creek Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care and attention during his stay.
We would also like to thank Regency Hospice for their compassion with his care.
Brackney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A private burial will be
held at a later time.

I went to school with the older siblings thru Dwight..In fact his older brother Maxwell in my class…That was one great BAKER FAMILY …… May the peace of God comfort his family and friends…
