Hiram Landing Winstead, Jr. 91 of Crestview, FL., passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at his home. Hiram was born April 9, 1929 in Summitville, TN and moved to the area in 1991 from Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Hiram attended ‘Wolverine School of Trades” in Detroit, MI, he retired from General motors, Hydra-Matic Division in 1983 with 33 years of service, as a welder and tool crib attendant. He attended Airport Road Church of Christ, and he was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He had a love of aviation, automobiles and collecting radios. One of the highlights of his retirement was attending one of the last launches of the Discovery Shuttle with his Grandson and Son-in-law. He truly enjoyed good homecooked food.
Hiram is preceded in death by his parents; Hiram Landing Winstead, Sr. and Viola Elizabeth (King) Winstead, a son, Glenn D Winstead in 2018, one brother, Dale Winstead, and two sisters, Nancy Poole, and Katherine Teal. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Alice Winstead, son Gary D Winstead (Lynn), daughter, Donna L Lawler (Kevin), four grandsons, Kevin C Lawler, Matthew Cody Lawler, Gary Daniel Winstead, Jr., Scott D Winstead, and two great-grandchildren, Harriet Penelope Lawler, Nolan Clay Lawler.
Services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021, graveside at Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery, beginning at 2:00pm.

To a Dad on whom I could always depend. I did my best by you unto the end. I always tried to make you proud. I resented your discipline until I had my own children and realized it made me who I am. I am grateful for it now.

I love you Dad and will miss you so deeply.
