James “Buck” Crawford, age 74, of Laurel Hill, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 11. Buck was born on February 13, 1945 in Laurel Hill and was a lifelong resident. He was a skilled carpenter and worked many years in construction. A faithful member of Magnolia Baptist church, he served as a Deacon. Buck enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer & Juanita Crawford and a brother Howard Earl Crawford.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Linda J. Crawford; 3 children Angela Cox and husband David, Holly Sutton and husband Bob, Mark Honaker and wife Patricia; his grandchildren Synclare Cox & Jamie Sutton; 3 great grandchildren Emma Sutton, Riley King, Aiden King and 4 sisters Brenda Majors, Pat Gilley, Glenda McLeod, Linda Bennett.
A Celebration of Buck's life will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, February 14, from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Pastor Mike McVay, Pastor Sammy Hiers and David Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Almarante Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM, on Friday at the funeral home.

Uncle Buck was a wonderful man. I’ll always remember when he took my brother and I to church and then for ice cream. This will always be my best memory.
