John Leonard Owens

John Leonard Owens, 85 of Milton, Florida passed away Friday December 3, 2021 at his home. Mr. Owens was born on December 12, 1935 to Harvey and Elizabeth Owens in Milton, Florida. He was a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County and a 1953 Graduate of Milton High School. John Leonard served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict to then go on to a career with American Cyanamid as a Production Supervisor and retired after 35 years of faithful service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Milton along with being active in the 55+ group. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working outdoors, keeping everything top notch. He loved the Lord and his family, watching football, loved animals and being a Paw Paw.
John Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Elizabeth Owens.
John Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 61 ½ years, Edwina Broxson Owens, children Anita Owens (Roy) Schaffer, Larry Owens, sister, Elizabeth Jean (Jerry) Watson, grandson, Ryan (Bethany) Schaffer and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 9, 2021 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Milton, with Dr. Jonathan Russell, Dr. David Spencer and Reverend George Dunn officiating. Burial to follow at Hickory Hammock Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9th from Noon to 2 pm at First Baptist Church of Milton.
