Mary Alberta Taggart, born to Lee and Lottie Morris, entered this world on Nov. 7, 1934, in Jay, Fla. She spent her formative years in Jay, later calling Vernon, Ala., and Baker, Fla., home as well. Mary went to her final home to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024. 

Throughout her life, Mary wore many hats, excelling in each of them. She worked as an Inspector at Monsanto in Pensacola, Fla. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to become the most fabulous Mary Kay consultant in Vernon, Ala., where she shared her passion for beauty and style with countless clients. Additionally, her impeccable sense of fashion made her a highly sought-after consultant at the She Shop in Columbus, Miss.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mary found her true joy in her roles as a fantastic home chef, a gracious hostess, and above all, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and caretaker to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness and unwavering love left a lasting impact on all who were blessed to know her.

Mary was a woman of faith, holding a deep love for the Lord throughout her life. Her Christian values guided her, and her devotion was evident in everything she did.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, humor and resilience. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lottie Morris; her grandsons, Jared Lee Salter and Chase Richard Owens; and her brothers, Archie, Wilson and Ezra Morris.

Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bryan “Bob” Taggart; her sons, Darrell Salter (Helen) and Timothy Taggart (Lucrecia); her daughters, Donna Tate (Mark) and Bobbie Schofield (Tony); her sister, Wavolene Kelly; her sister in law, Myrtle Morris; her grandchildren, Eric Salter (Kristy), Chad Salter, Heath Owens (Amanda), Shon Owens (Jena), Jeremy Newell (Stephanie), Lasheika Wyatt (Lane), Jennifer Alberta Cox (John), Bryan Taggart, Tamera Coriell (Mason), Alex Guzman, Bridgit (Lee), Sean (Allie) and Benjamin Schofield, along with numerous, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Pastor Don Taggart officiating. Burial to follow at Cora Baptist Church Cemetery, 12953 Chumuckla Hwy, Jay, Florida 32565 meeting at 4:00 p.m.. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 1:30 – 2:30 at the funeral home.
