Although the passing of a loved one is typically a time of great sadness, I’ve had to chuckle a few times these past few days when my thoughts turned to my brother Bill.

His favorite pastime was playing pranks on those who were dear to him, particularly me. I was born almost 18 months before him. Between the two of us, as far as I was concerned, I was the "boss." However, he wasn’t having any of that nonsense. Since I was a mere "girl," he thought it was his God-given right to boss me around and play pranks on me.

He’s in heaven now, along with our older brother, Sonny, whose favorite pastime was performing magic tricks. Also in heaven with Bill are his two best friends, Landon Greene and Junior Thomas.

I cringe to think of all the mischief the four of them will engage in during the coming years. The only saving grace is that our sister, Mary, is there with them, and I know she will exercise some modicum of control over them.

Bill will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
